The 7 Blunders of The World

Mahatma Gandhi, on the final day he spent with his grandson Arun, penned this list of  “The Seven Blunders of the World.” I find them insightful. And very relevant. Though Gandhi compiled the seven over half a century ago, modern day examples aren’t hard to come by.

The seven blunders are:

  • Wealth without work
  • Pleasure without conscience
  • Knowledge without character
  • Commerce without morality
  • Science without humanity
  • Worship without sacrifice
  • Politics without principle

Jumping the Gun – A Lesson from The Tonight Show Fiasco

Like you most likely, I’ve kept myself fairly abreast of what is happening with the host and schedule changes at the Tonight Show. When NBC began the dual Conan/Leno comedy experiment seven months ago, out of curiosity I checked the ratings about every month and read a few commentaries from entertainment industry pundits on how it was fairing.

With the healthcare debate again taking center stage I’m writing this post for the rest of us. Those like me who are health care “laypeople.” We certainly will be impacted by changes to the system. But we’re not professionally involved in the debate.
